Spare Change News Silent Auction

It’s hard to believe, but we’re all grown up. For the past 18 years, Spare Change News has been empowering persons experiencing homelessness and other forms of social and economic adversity to improve their lives through self-employment. Through the voices of its vendors and the content of its pages, Spare Change has consistently engaged in advocacy and worked to dispel myths surrounding homelessness and poverty.

Join the vendors, staff, and board members of the Homeless Empowerment Project to celebrate the “coming of age” of Spare Change on Saturday, May 8th, from 6-9pm in the Atrium at the Inn at Harvard. A variety of hors d’ oeuvres will be served, with wine, beer, and other refreshments included and cocktails available for purchase. Live entertainment will invigorate the crowd, including a poetry reading by Poetry Editor, former Editor-in-Chief and vendor Marc Goldfinger.
The centerpiece to the Birthday Gala will be a Silent Auction, to be held from 6 to 8pm, followed by a reception. This year, we will compile an impressive array of items for bidding, including autographed Boston sports memorabilia, a complimentary stay at the Inn at Harvard, gift certificates to local businesses, collectables from the Spare Change archives, and many more.

We hope to see you and your family and friends on May 8th. The Inn at Harvard is located at 1201 Mass. Ave. in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA 02138. Tickets for the Birthday Gala are available for purchase here or at the HEP/Spare Change headquarters at 1151 Mass. Ave. in Harvard Square. Entrances are $30 per person or $55 per couple.
Valet parking at the Inn at Harvard is available for an additional $10 per car.
