Spare Change News and HSBA partners announce The Empathy Project

Harvard Square Business Association just announced the Empathy Project, a collaboration between Spare Change News, Homeless Empowerment Project, and our fellow Harvard Square Business Association member, the Community Charter School of Cambridge. The project is organized by SCN interns and CCSC seniors Yusef Ferhani and Christy Felix.
On May 7th, the, National Day of Service, high school students are invited to participate in a day-long event to sell copies of Spare Change News to their neighbors, with all proceeds will go towards the paper’s production costs. Students from Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, have already signed on, and registration is still open!
“We are so grateful to Yusef and Christy for conceiving of and implementing this project,” stated Katherine Bennett, Executive Director of Homeless Empowerment Project, with publishes SCN. “We know that having students walk in the shoes of our vendors will lead to greater understanding of the plight of the homeless and nearly homeless in our communities. We hope The Empathy Project will be an annual event.”
